Purpose and outcomes

This unit standard provides a broad introduction to HIV/AIDS in the workplace. It introduces a broad case of knowledge about HIV/AIDS that will enable learners to be

informed and caring workers in an industry.

The focus is knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in relation to the learner’s own context and experience of the world of work.


Module 1 a) How do we get HIV/AIDS?

Module 2) Stage 1 – CD 4 Cell count 500 – 1200+

Stage 2 – CD 4 Cell count 400 – 600 (Post infection)

Stage 3 – CD 4 Cell count less than 200
